How well do you know the Bible?
Let's see by answering this question.
Do you know how many times an astronaut and his canoe is
mentioned in the Bible?
If you answered, never. You got it correct. An astronaut and his canoe are not mentioned, even once.
I know...I too was surprised to learn that an astronaut and his canoe is never mentioned in scripture!
Now answer this question.
What does and astronaut and a canoe have to do with your eternal salvation?
I'll tell you the answer...Absolutely Nothing!
The following message is a paraphrased version of a video created by "Johnny Anonymous" and uses his somewhat unique method of conveying the message of Christ differently than others, in hope that it will be something you will remember and share, with the ultimate goal of drawing in the unsaved.
Most people who are not Christians believe that if you are a
good person, you will go to Heaven. They go through life
hoping this is true. They believe in a deeds mentality, that
if their good deeds out-weigh their bad deeds, that they are
Heaven bound.
This thinking is simply not true. They accept this concept because most of the unsaved world has and believes this same mindset. After all, it sounds logical. There are hundreds of millions of people believing this fallacy. They want their good behavior to be good enough, yet it isn't. Ephesians 2:8-9 states:
"For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast. -- Ephesians 2:8-9"
The truth is, you are saved by believing in Jesus Christ as
John 6:40 states:
"For this is the will of My Father, that everyone who beholds the Son and believes in Him will have eternal life, and I Myself will raise him up on the last day. -- John 6:40"
Here we see it in John 5:24:
"Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but as passed out of death into life. -- John 5:24"
So...instead of hoping and guessing, why not make sure of your eternity? How would someone do this?
Admit that you are a sinner.
"For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. -- Romans 3:23"
Believe that Jesus is Lord.
9 "That if you confess with your mouth
Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God
raised Him from the dead, you will be saved
10 for with the heart a person believes
resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he
confesses, resulting in salvation. -- Romans 10:9-10"
For "Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will
be saved. -- Romans 10:12"
How can you be sure you are saved? Your assurance is here in Ephesians 1:13:
"In Him, you also, after listening to the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation - having also believed, you were sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of promise. Ephesians 1:13"
